The Last Pandemic

This is the recreation of one of the iconic painting by Leonardo Da Vinci's THE LAST SUPPER. Over the years a lot of famous artists re-create this old piece from 1490 to the present day in their own unique way. I was inspired by those talented artists and decided to make one my own.

The poses remind us of this art in some way and everyone just focuses on the poses. The majority of recreations of The Last Supper are performed in a limited amount of time in such as films, paintings, robots, drawings, and so on as we have seen. In this Art, the pose isn't everything. I believe the details and story add to the beauty. So I was determined to understand everything I could in order to make this as good as possible.

This took me 7 weeks to complete. Why? I had to analyze 14th-century architecture, study the context of the painting, understand the lighting, research the texture on the wall, exploring Leonardo's technique among other things. After studying all of them, I began creating them in 3D one by one. Even though it is not physically accurate to speaking of a 3D reconstruction.

The Story:

In the original painting, Leonardo drew the painting as when Jesus says "one of you will kill me" and everyone freaked out. Da Vinci captured that moment's expression like they were saying it wasn't me!!, what is he talking about?, who is going to kill ? etc etc so far i learned about that story.

In my render, the story goes like this, A deadly virus outbreaks named covid-19 known as coronavirus which is portrait as the real-world scenario. Those guys wearing a hazmat suit to protect themself but somehow the leader (man in the middle) knows that they all were infected with coronavirus and breaks the news at supper table raised his glass and says "We're all going to die. Cheers." Everyone was shocked and reacted to the news by asking, "am I going to die?" Some of them are displaying rage—this is insane!! Some are debating whether or not he is telling the truth. Some people are forming groups—don't believe him; he's lying.

In the original, the guy(peter) who's carrying the knife looks like he was the one who is going to kill Jesus but actually, he wasn't the one who was going to betray him.

In my 3d render, the same guy deals with modern equipment by holding a green poison injection. In this storyline, he wasn't going to kill him too like the original because it was just a regular flu shot injection. We've all associated the color green with poison since we were children and were shown that in cartoon wicked witch cooking poison which was colored green, it's just a nostalgic memory of mine.

This is only a figment of my imagination; the viewer is free to use their own imagination. When you look at this image, you can envision a sad or joyful situation in your head because your mind's imagination is limitless.

I tried to give as many details as possible, such as the ironic name of the beer they were drinking, Corona. which is in reality an actual beer. You get it coronavirus outbreaks drinking Corona beer. They were eating pizza, buns, sandwiches, and wine. If you zoom in you can feel the scratches on the mask, threads on the table cloth, the illustration on the table cloth and the wall, the juiciness of the steak, etc.

This image has a resolution of 8k. The picture you're looking at took me 22 hours to render. It wasn't idle for me to render that big image but I wanted to give the audience eyegasm while zooming into those little details. There's a ton of covered-up things in there for you to find like paintings or so. I hope you like this.

So this is my recreation of The last supper in the modern situation and I call it.

"The Last Pandemic".
